Obituary for Brenda Lea Wolf (Coker-Carlman)

Brenda Lea Wolf, 59, of Grinnell, died Saturday, January 23, 2021. She was born February 5, 1961, in WaKeeney, KS, to Lawrence and Frances (Rohr) Coker. Brenda graduated from Grinnell High School in 1980 and Colby Community College in 1981. Brenda worked at the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, and CD Clark & Sons, in Oakley. On August 10, 1985 Brenda married Steve Wolf. Brenda was a homemaker and loved caring for her family. She often volunteered at Grinnell schools as a cook. She also worked at Hometown grocery as the cook. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, in Grinnell and the Altar Society. She was a proud, lifetime member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, where she had served as treasurer of the Grinnell Auxiliary and was a member of the Hutchinson V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Brenda’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Coker and Frances Carlman; daughter Ashley Wolf; infant brother, Timothy Coker; mother-in-law, Marlene Wolf, uncle Gary Coker and two infant children.

She is survived by her husband Steve, of Grinnell; son Brandon (Sarah) Wolf, of Colby; grandchildren, Bailey and Axten Wolf; sisters, Cynthia (Dave) Ortman, Mankato, KS and Marie (Don) Taylor, St. John, KS and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2021, at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center, Grinnell, with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass is 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2021 at the Immaculate Conception Church, Grinnell, with burial in the church cemetery. Social distancing and masks are required. Memorials are suggested to the Northwest KS Special Olympics or to the Brenda Wolf Grandchildren’s Education Fund and may be sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 204, Oakley, KS 67748.
