Obituary for Maurice Earl Phelps
Maurice Earl Phelps, 81, was born on the family farm June 4, 1941, at Quinter, KS. He died February 17, 2023, in Colby, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Edith Phelps; siblings, Wrex, James, Kay and Don; and wife Janet.
One sister, Shirley (Julius) Bohl, of Florida, and several nieces and nephews survive him.
Maurice graduated from Quinter High School in 1959. He served in the United States Army at Fort Lee, VA. He returned to Colby, KS and developed several businesses. He especially enjoyed operating UPac Storage. Maurice also volunteered with the Colby Fire Department for several years. His family’s farming operations was closest to his heart as part of the 4th generation of farmer’s in Quinter, KS. During his last years, Maurice made his home at Fairview Estates.
