Rickey “Rick” Joseph Romme, 65, of Atwood KS, passed away April 29, 2023. He was born June 9, 1957, in Kansas City, KS. He was later adopted by Herbert and Lillian (Wittman) Romme and raised on their family farm north of Victoria KS. Rick attended school in Victoria where he graduated with the class of 1975. After graduation, Rick took over the family farm. In 1978 he married Mary Jo Robben, and they raised three sons in the Victoria area. In 2008 Rick, Susan and their three children moved to Beardsley KS where he was able to rekindle his love of hobby farming and ranching. Throughout life, Rick was an entrepreneur and a jack of many trades. Some of his businesses thru the years included two small secondhand stores located in Hays, a tire recycling business that turned old worn-out tires into floor mats and cattle mats, and a plastic recycling center that repurposed unwanted plastics to early versions of recycled park benches and plastic lumber called Total Recyclers. Rick also worked at various maintenance positions throughout life and ran a small handyman/plumbing repair shop. In short, he knew no strangers. Rick was a proud American who enjoyed gardening, Rock n Roll music, baseball, exercising his gift of gab, and spending time with his grandchildren.
