Obituary for Rodney Alan Spong

Rodney Alan Spong was born on March 8, 1968, in Hoxie KS but he grew up in Denver Colorado. Rod’s adventurous spirit has brought him to many places throughout the US and he even spent 10 years abroad, living in Ireland.

Rod was known for four things… His love of music, his love of cooking, his adventurous spirit, and his sense of humor. Rod began playing the guitar early in life and had been a member of several bands both in the US and in Ireland. He was equally talented in the kitchen. He loved creating culinary treats that were always amazing. He even marketed his own “Mama Nag” sauce.

However, anyone who knew Rod, loved his sense of humor. He always had a way of bringing laughter and fun into any situation. You never quite knew what would come out of his mouth, which made him a hoot to be around. Uncle Tink Tink, as his nieces and nephews called him, always brought a special flair to all our family gatherings.

Rod was proceeded in death by his father, Donald Spong, brother, Terry Spong, Grandparents, Dorothy and Lester Ray and grandmother Alma Ellis. He is survived by his mother Doris Warner, stepdad Marvin Warner, sister Tonya (Alan) Spresser, nephews: Tanner Smith, Gannon Spresser and Michael Spong and nieces: Brittney Reed and Gabi (Chase) Kennedy.

A graveside service will be held at the Morland Cemetery, Morland KS at 2pm on Thursday May 19, 2022.
